Today I read 'Rascal and the Hot Air Balloon' by Paul Jennings.
The 'Rascal' books by Paul Jennings are really popular. Rascal is Ben's pet dragon, who either gets up to mischief or saves the day. We have the whole Rascal series in our classroom. They're the first books everyone goes for in Quiet Reading time.
In this book, Rascal is being annoying, chasing planes, helicopters and hot air balloons. So annoying, in fact that he has to be tied up.
But one day, he breaks free and his fire breathing skills save the day. He's not so annoying any more.
'Rascal and the Hot Air Balloon' is a funny story with an important message about how we can use our gifts and talents to help others.
This book would be perfect for 6 to 7 years olds who are just beginning to read chapter books.
Now listen to Matthew reading 'Rascal and the Hot Air Balloon'.
